Detailed Team Overviews
Please find below more specific details about each of our teams!
Written Content Team
We have two avenues for written content: our blog and our print publication. In the past writers have worked for either the blog or the print, but moving forward we will be creating a more cohesive writing team. This means all writers will contribute to both the blog and the print, though you can choose to focus on one or the other. We accept all formats ranging from interview and opinion pieces to research style long form articles. While the majority of our work is non-fiction, we also welcome works of fiction that align with our central themes of social justice and awareness.
You can find past issues of our print here: http://upennimpact.org/magazine/
IMPACT’s look strives to be as visually powerful as its message is. As a member of the Design Team, you would develop the layout and aesthetic of our print magazine. Our team works primarily in Adobe InDesign, but previous experience is not required. Designers also have opportunities to develop our website.
Our photographers are visual reporters of social issues and impact work around Philadelphia, with their work featured on our website, social-media platforms, and bi-annual print publication. Being a member of the Photography Team is a great opportunity to travel around Philadelphia and to engage with people in social impact.
Photographers work closely with writers to find the best visual representations of their stories.
Being a part of this team includes advertising all our events around Penn’s campus and using social media as a tool to increase the reach of the content produced by our incredibly talented team members. Other responsibilities include identifying and recruiting sponsors, spearheading funding-campaigns, and helping manage our budget.
If you work with media not represented by one of the above categories, please apply under the creative/other category. So if you like making videos, painting, drawing, choreographing dance routines, or anything creative and you would like to propose a project for IMPACT’s blog or print publication, please do so! We welcome art of any kind and would love to hear your ideas.
